The Scent of Happiness: Why Our Daily Cinnamon Buns are a New Favourite

If you’ve ever walked into Governor's House Cafe & Deli and thought, “What is that amazing smell?”—chances are it’s our fresh, baked daily cinnamon buns doing their thing. Warm cinnamon, buttery roll, and that sweet swirl that basically announces: you deserve a proper break.

A fun fact while you’re choosing your slice: cinnamon buns have Swedish roots (their classic name is kanelbulle). In Sweden they’re sometimes nicknamed “cinnamon snails” because of the swirly shape. They’re so loved there that National Cinnamon Bun Day is a real thing — it’s celebrated every year on 4th October. Honestly, we get it.

For us, the secret isn’t clever shortcuts — it’s fresh ingredients, baked slowly, proved twice to give a soft bun that's light and fluffy.  We don't put in any preservatives or flavour enhancers which is why we bake them every day and smother them with a rich cream frosting.  The have a proper fresh-from-the-oven taste (and a smell you can’t ignore).

We’re right here in the centre of Newark-on-Trent, so whether you’re local, visiting, or just passing through, pop in and grab one while they’re fresh.
